Madison fixture Connie Byrans is dedicated to the youth of Morgan County. As sitting Co-President of the Madison-Morgan County Boys & Girls Club, she’s spent the last ten years ensuring the youth of Morgan County have a place to become productive, caring and responsible citizens. Recently, Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Georgia highlighted and celebrated Connie’s commitment by giving her the Lifetime Movement Award at its annual Doors to Great Futures Donor, Volunteer and Youth of the Year Awards.
Bryans was in for a surprise, as she was asked to help announce the recipient for the milestone award. After being asked to read the award’s name plate out loud, she discovered it was for her. Immediately, Bryans was moved to tears and speechless.
“Connie Bryans gives so much to the Morgan County youth and has left a living legacy mark on the story of how our Madison-Morgan Club came to be,” Bob Mackey, CEO & President shared. “We are so glad she’s here and a part of our movement.”
Bryans said she was inspired by the event and humbled at receiving the Lifetime Movement Award.
“Receiving this award motivates me to intensify my efforts to give every student the opportunities that have benefitted our Boys & Girls Club members, she shared. “I consider myself a ‘connector’ and it was uplifting that we had all those people in the room supporting the work that I do.”
When asked why she believes in the Club’s work, Bryans quickly answered with a smile.
“We’re providing a place for kids to have fun and spend their after-school time in a positive environment. Watching our youth succeed with pride in their accomplishments makes this work more than worthwhile. Thank you so much for this honor.”
