Golf season is here and for the lovers of the game, Madison-Morgan Boys & Girls Club has a unique way for community members to give back!

MMBGC Charles W. Baldwin Memorial Hope & Promise Golf Tournament will be May 17 at Lane Creek Golf club in Bishop Georgia.

Registration for teams and individual players are available online at www.bgcncg.com/madisongolf.

“You can help the youth of Morgan County out of the rough and onto a clear path to the greenway of success,” Karen Robertson, Senior Executive Club Director shared.

“This year we have some exciting partnerships underway and hope to fund a new initiative called First Tee through the funds raised,” she said. “We also will use the funds raised to help offset costs of our summer programming, which impacts so many youth in our county.”

What is First Tee?

The First Tee is a national program, which offers group golf lessons to all youth ages 7-18, regardless of background or previous experience. Community Partner, Chase Stepehns will be spearheading this experience for our youth.

“This is a program to introduce our youth to the game of golf and the life lessons taught through the game,” he said.

With your support this year we are aiming to fund this new initiative and get the tees ready for our youth.

“Your participation helps Madison-Morgan Boys & Girls Club provide life-enhancing programs and character-building experiences to over 400 Morgan County Youth,” Robertson said. “These youths look at the Club to provide a safe place to learn and grow!”

Lane Creek Golf Club is a Daily Fee course that originally opened in the Spring of 1992. With 18 holes and with a practice facility that includes a 12,000 square feet of tee area, contoured target greens and 7,000 square foot putting green - this will be an exciting tournament!

Mark Schlabach, ESPN reporter & columnist and New York Times best-selling author, is our honorary chairperson for this year’s event. He is one of the most respected and popular college football columnists in the country.

Events like this would not be possible without sponsorships from local businesses and community members, Co-chair of the Advisory board for MMBGC, Nancy Vaughn said.
